i always have troble with that because i dont get them done often but when i do i want to get them just right

The fashionable thing (as in, all the celebs are doing it) is darker colors, mostly reds in maroon or blood red. If you want to look professional or really lady-like, try the classic pinks and reds. If you just want to have fun painting your nails, go through all the available options on the stores shelves and pick something out that really looks nice to you. You don't have to paint them the same color, mine use to be neon green, yellow, hot pink, orange and bright blue all at the same time. I liked it. Just have fun! After all... nail polish remover is pretty cheap and easier to use than nail polish!

if you are picking a color, that is TOTALLY up to you. You could do something that is "in", whether it be a really dark color or what. I wouldn't suggest that though. It depends on your personality, and your outfit, too.
I really like french manicures, and usually they are the way to go!! They look nice and done, feminine, pretty much goes with any clothes/accessories, is fun to do, and just look really nice. Also, you can get them barely tinted a tan, brown, pink, orange, or blue, or any other color.
if you do your nails more often it becomes easier, more convenient and you can be really happy with them, and always have them look really nice.

I like my nails to be painted on with just a hint of color, however having said that I do prefer them in dark colors just to see them (colors) pop ^_^.
Should they be the same, do you mean for the toes as well? Just wondering. Not necessarily, you can have a different shade for your toes, it doesn't need to be match-y.
In Asia at the moment, nail art is a huge trend.

Look at all the different colors and get what you like see what color jumps at you and then you may want to put some designs on them. Also french manicure is cute if you don't want color.

Well I use different kinds of colors. Any colors that describes your personality are the best colors you should use. And everytime you need a fill on you nails get a different color, be different. ;)

ok that's what u do kinda lame yet its kewl paint ur nail warm pink thenbut a green tip and black bolka dots (in easy terms some) close to the area the place ur nail starts off so ur nails appear as if watermellons! i did it and it seems great esapecially in the process the summer season!
