I believe that whenever you dial 911 on a land-line, the address is automatically recorded. you don't have to say anything. I don't know if this would work with a cell phone, or if there's any way of tracing it.

The person above me is right....if you call 911 from a land line, the police will show up NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you deny calling them or say you don't need them, they still come in case you are a hostage and have to answer in that manner.

NOTE: The INTERNATIONAL EMERGENCY NUMBER is 112. Just call 112 from your cell even in a different country and it will connect with the local authorities.

NOTE: You can call 911 even if the phone you are using has been deactivated (like an old phone that has been replace), even when there is no signal (which there shouldn't be if it has been deactivated).

all cell phones capable of texting or at least those sold within the last 3 years are e911 which means enhanced 911 and they have gps enabled and in the phone, what this means is the FCC made it a law that any phone legally sold had to have this capability so that in the instance that you were unable to speak all you ahve to do is dial 911 and send the call will go through and whether you say something or not it will track your gps coordinates and dispatch emergency personnel to your location which is easier than texting and more convienent considering if you are held hostage they can constantly track you...
