I do not know if this will help...... but maybe you n your hubby should reflect on this ...... " Listening is a form of art ....it is not acquired , it is learnt .... so the best thing for the both of you might be to learn to listen ... to what the other is saying....... by asking.... ( each other ).....the meanings behind statement being made..... instead of making your own meanings.
As for him - getting on your nerves.... and his talks of his high school days ...... is it possible you and your husband have expectations..... that are not being met or ever discussed about.....in other words you are both skirting the real issues bothering the both of you.
Communication is about connecting.... not out smarting the other.
When we are aware of the source we are coming from.... we are better equipped to connect emotionally to those we love. So talk from that source... (in your case ) the love... you have for your husband. Change happen when we allow it.... so make a decision today.... to change the style of communicating... in your marriage. Good luck.

Have a serious talk with him. Tell him that his focusing on his past without you hurts you. Let him know that it's o.k. sometimes to tell stories about fun in his youth, but you need a balance- the two of you should be making new memories & stories together.

girl. look at the brighter side.. you LOVE your husband. LOVE is a decision. accept his past, acknowledge him now and face the future with him.
highschool life is very colorful, u may want to do positive scripting. we might not know that he really grew during that time.

He probably thinks of himself as if he was once this cool hs kid, and he probably thinks he attracts you more if he acts like he did in hs. I am pretty sure he is trying to get your attention like that, just play along for once and hopefully he gets over it like that.

I believe he is thinking of his youth. Why don't you compare these times in your life together? It can be fun to hear about the silly pranks and things you two did.

MAYBE HE REALLY ENJOYED HIS HIGH SCHOOL YEARS. YOU NEED TO ASK HE WHAT HE'S TRYING TO GET AT. IT COULD BE SOMETHING BUT MOST LIKELY HE IS JUST REMINISSING AND WANTS TO DO IT WITH THE ONE HE LOVES.
PS. ALL MEN GET ON OUR NERVES.

I'm sorry. I would guess he's missing his youth. I say you try gentle persuasion and see if you can get him to open up.
