A little added information to the advice given below.
1- Get a working lamp and plug it in.
2- If it doesn't work in the receptacle that quit but does work in others the see if you can find a fuse or breaker in the electrical panel.
3- If you have screw-in fuses then you look for a discolored one. (a good one you can see a metal tab inside the center window in the middle of the fuse). [most of the time]
4- Replace the bad one with a good one (exactly the same size)
When you remove a fuse, there is a number stamped one the bottom (center contact) 15 or 20 or 25 maybe even 30.
5- If you have circuit breakers, they look like a sideways light switch. Switch them on, one at a time (toward the center of the panel). They shouldn't move. If one does, and feels mushy, then switch it all the way off (away from the center of the panel) then switch it all the way back on). This resets it and the receptacle should work again. If this doesn't solve the problem, better see if any part of the receptacle has power at all.
You can get a replacement receptacle at any home improvement store, hardware and even in some convenience stores.
If you are going to do it yourself, get a flashlight and turn off the main power to the house make the change (wire the new receptacle exactly the same way as the old one, close everything back up and then you can turn the power back on and plug in the lamp. Good Luck! ! !

Are all the other outlets in the room working? If not, check the breaker. If so, try another appliance. If the outlets aren't working, but the breaker is on - call an electrician (it's either the breaker or somewhere in the wall - wiring).
If all others work, but another appliance does not, you have a bad outlet (yes, they do go bad - just like light switches). They cost anywhere from .89 cents to $4 at the hardware store. If you don't feel comfortable replacing it (google this), then get an electrician (the guy at the hardware store can probably walk you through it in 5 minutes).
Mind you, if other outlets are not working and the breaker is on - it could still be the outlet (but I really advise getting an electrician if these symptoms are true).

steam blasters should run on 15 and 20A circuits without a problem depending on their size (heating element)
if your outlet stopped working, plug in an outlet tester,,,,kill the pwoer at the breaker for it and open it up....it could be a loose connection or soemthing like i had a month ago...the outlet just went bad and had to be replaced...something thats never common....

Generally it looks the same when it's working as when it's not...
Did you try to plug anything else into the outlet? You can buy a tool to test the current, it might help figure out what's wrong.

You probably blew a fuse. If your not sure what your looking for find someone who does. If your renting call your landlord to fix it.
