You really ought not eat and drive, it is too distracting. So is changing stations and music disks. Combing hair and putting on makeup-same. Now this may be hard to believe but there are people who read and drive or try to follow a map while the car is in motion and they are driving it. Those are all big no, nos, and so is changing clothes or being one of those can't stop for anything people who brings a bottle to whiz in while they drive. Oh yes, I have heard them all. The fact is that smoking is not even safe while you are driving. Neither is playing with baby or trying to partially dress or undress a child. Even looking away for a moment at a picture that someone has or wants to show you is not a safe practice. I think we all know that driving and consuming alcohol is not safe and that we should not drive if high on alcohol or drugs already taken, and yes, oft times that means perscription meds. You are also risking the lives of yourself, your passenger/s and other people driving on the road if you argue while trying to concentrate on the road. Today with all the high guys and fly guys (that means guys and gals), old guys, and road rage, revoked drivers, drivers who don't know how to drive (without ever having a license and with), you have to be on your toes. You need to focus all of your attention on the road. If you can't and there is something else you need to do, then pull off of the road at some safe stop and do it. You also need to not forget to be buckled up and do not speed or disobey road signs or any of the traffic rules. It is grievous and more when people get into fatal accidents that are truely accidents weather or a faulty car part etc caused, and people die. It is doubly tragic when an accident occurs that never should have because it could have very simply been prevented. Once you are dead, or have killed someone else it is too late to change what happened. I know that means alot of don'ts. Don't discard trash out the windows, point or throw things at other drivers-do not distract other drivers unless there is a major safety reason that you need to. The easiest thing to do is not to ask or tell what a person should not do when driving, it is to tell what you should do. That is consider that lives depend on your abilities and take your privlege seriously by focusing on driving and nothing else. That means children in carseats and well prepared, not, not-so and pets in carriers so both you and they are safe. Yes, yes, I could have said don't let kids climb around and over seats and don't let pets run loose in the car or don't let people ride with you who won't put on seat belts or obey the rules, but what it all boils down to is what to do and that is drive safely because lives are depending on it.

How long a list do you want?

It's not a good idea to try changing a tire whilst driving or to attempt an oil change. Performing open heart surgery whilst driving isn't recommended either.
