When do you think the US empire will begin to crumble due to our 8 trillion dollar debt? Or our 200 billion dollar a year trade deficit with China?

Alexander Hamilton once said that a democracy will only last until the people realize they can vote open the doors of the treasury.
That is what has happened here. From FDR to Johnson to Bush, Presidents go for the votes by laying on the entitlements. Now we have a bunch of illegal aliens that can't even vote that are looting the treasury. If America doesn't start getting fiscally sound by getting rid of all these welfare and entitlement programs we're doomed.
And I am an African-American union member!!!

I don't think, you need ever worry about the demise of the so called "US Empire".
They have been hurting for some time now and the country is certainly feeling the pinch, monetarily.
With the war in Afganistan and Iraq sucking up most of the dollars slated for so many other endevours in your own country, to help your own people.
Instead, they are going for the giant war machine, that has apparently bogged down, with the outcome in question!!
Any monies saved prior to the Bush reign, has long gone and been wasted, with the national debt growing by the day.......
Time for a change yet?? You tell me!!

I think the US Empire could, theoritically last forever, i don't think it will depend on the debt of the government, but rather the debt on companies in the US. Amazon does not make a single penny, yahoo is 400 million dollars in debt for instance. This is more of a country ran by the people than most people actually believe, if the govt. fails, the country will not, the people will not let it. We will just start over, and we still will be an empire when we do, just not as powerful to begin with

Yes everything will not lust for ever in this un eternal world.We are all will die but we do not know when,where and in what condition or what is its cause.I think the 8 trillion dollar debt of your government among others is caused by making war in Iraq and Afghanistan. and other places in this world.Any accomplish ment of an objective needs a cost..The government debt should be paid by American tax payers.So to stop the US Empire,most American people should replace your national leaders into a better group with a better program for healing your domestic economy and for rebuilding your foreign policy.

the U. S. empire won't fall apart because of any debt or commerce deficit. The U.S. will become much less dominant on condition that we lose our benefit on the technological and scientific fronts. as long as we shop the side that we've, no u . s . a . can usurp us. in spite of the undeniable fact that, if we become complacent and out-source our understanding in those factors, we are able to perish.

The trouble is, they have all the weapons of mass destruction. I wish I could say "this too will pass", but at the moment, I don't hold out much hope, and that scares me.

DOOM & GLOOM again. I am so sick of questions like this. You are always takuing us down.This is the greatest country on the face of the earth. If we are in such dire strates then why is everyone in the world coming here to get on the gravey train. The Democrates will try to break us by taxing us to death but they cant let us fail because then the have nots will be like the haves & they would not have a issue to run on.

As soon as we eliminate the democratic party.......the only reason our debt is so high with a republican is we have to negotiate through Political favors with the democrats to try and get the size of our gov't reduced

Every culture evolves...look at our cousins in England...the empire lasted hundreds of years...or Berlin it's over a thousand years old. Our culture will evolve. We lead the world in everything, especially our culture, movies, trends, Nike shoes. We are the "hip" country, and if they admit it or not, every country even Cuba wants to be just like us.
