When either of them falls on a concrete floor, then whoever paid for them gets really pissed off - that is a similarity.
When you point a cell phone at someone they can talk into it but microscopes lack that capability - that is a difference.
Is that weird enough to meet your needs?

cell phones and microscopes are both made up of some plastics.
you can talk into a cell phone and get feedback from someone you are talking with, and if you talk into, or to, a microscope, it won't talk back to you...and people may think you are crazy. microscopes are also heavier than cell phones.
