Guppys and platys are livebearers and should have lots of fine leafed plants for the babies to hide in. If not, the adults will eat some or all of them. Keep them well fed and that will cut down on the cannabalism.
Have open spaces so they can swim around and you can see them. Live plants need at least 8-10 hours of strong light each day. Don't put the tank in front of a window, however, the sun will heat the water and in winter it will get too cold. You will also have way too much algae from all the sunlight.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures. But I used to have a 10 gallon tank and I had male and female guppies. My setup was pretty simple: some rocks in which I piled up and turned into a little cave, a small clay pot for them to hide in, live plants at both ends. I left them a lot of room to swim around in. At that time, I have 5 guppies: 2 males and 3 females, and after a month or two of having the tank up, the female was pregnant and then I had to take her out and place her in a 5 gallon tank on her own until she gave birth. Be careful. Make sure you move her in another tank as soon as she lets out all her babues becaus eshe will eat them.

Place vegetation (take your pick of real or fake) along the back and then leave the front open. A thin layer of natural gravel and a couple rock accessories add a little flavor too.
At one point I also had a plastic berry crate in my guppy tank to anchor some plants and act as a safe haven for the babies.

Buy a clay gravel and make sure that it is 3 inches deep for plants to root. Consider an under tank heater for the plant health and use a filter that doesn't move water too much (the plants will help filter. Use driftwood and plant supplements to keep the tank healthy, and they fry will thrive in your tank.

the guideline of one inch in preserving with gallon isn't authentic or corect that's carefully bonkers, a 5 inch round goldfish the size of a tennis ball with fins isn't a similar length as a 5 one inch neon tetras. yet i guess accessible anticipate that having more suitable than a million inch in preserving with gallon might want to correctly be to many. i'd recommend you get one-2 extra guppies, possibly some extra shrimp even with the indisputable fact that it quite is about it. you would possibly want to maintain it as is and upload 4 kuhli loaches.

You have to have place for them to hide so put a large variety of broad leafed plants on the one side of the tank, on the other side just put a couple of large rocks and do the feeding on that side, unless they spawn then you feed the side of the plants as well cause the babies will hide there
