We LOVE it!! We have only the basic dining plan which is one counter service meal, one table service meal and one snack for each night of your stay. We usually had a very, very light breakfast which we paid cash for. (My son-age 24- and I would usually split a breakfast of french toast and sausage. One piece of fr. toast each) This held us over until lunch time during which we would use a counter service meal for things such as burger & fries, pizza, roasted chicken, or grilled salmon-depending upon which spot we stopped to eat. Then for dinner we were able to pick some of the pricier restaurants that we normally would not want to spend the money on, such as Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada pavilion at Epcot where the meal for 2 of us came to over $100.00! If you have children with you, (or even if you don't) you can even use a table service meal for one of the character meals. These usually run about $26.99 per person and I am sure it is a bit less for children, but I have noticed that most kids are so excited to see the characters that they eat very little, so again, this is a bit better than shelling out the cash.
You should find that the dining plan is a great value!!
We just got back from Disney one week ago and plan to return for a short trip in December!
Have a great vacation! Remember to relax and have fun!

We used the plan last year, are using it this year, and are planning to use it next year.
The plan includes one sit-down meal and one counter-service meal per day, plus a snack item.
We often ate an early lunch to use the counter-service and then the big meal for dinner. You really must make Advanced Dining Reservations for dinner, whether you are on the plan or not.
With the plan we were able to eat at restaurants we never could have afforded before. An example of this, is LeCellier in the Canada pavillion. Our meals would have easily cost between $55 and $90 a piece if we had not been on the plan.
My family highly recommends the Disney Dining Plan. I hope you have a great time at the World.
For a list of the restaurants included in the plan as well as menus for those restaurants, visit allearsnet.com.

Well, there are different types of dining plans. The past two years we've used the dining plans included in our vacation packages and things have worked out great. This year we were on the Platinum Plan. The dining plan included in our specific package gave us breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack per person per day. On the Platinum Plan ANY of the Disney restaurants are inclueded, unlike the other dining plans. We were able to eat at the most fabulous table service restaurants. We used most of the coupons on the dining plan, but had a few left over before we left. This was fine, we just went to the gift shop before we left and bought a few bottles of Coke and Dasani and a couple bags of chips with our remaining coupons. It was perfect for the plane ride home.
I love the Disney Dining Plan. It's so convenient and makes your vacation so much easier. You don't have to worry about whether or not you brought enough money to eat out every night. And you save a lot of money if you eat at the table service restaurants (counter service sucks.) The most helpful part is that gratuities and taxes are included on the dining plan. You don't have to worry about anything. You go to the restaurant of your choice, let them know you're on the dining plan, and when it's time to pay, you just give them your card.
And don't forget, if you have extra coupons at the end, use them for snacks for the trip home. You can also buy candy and boxes of cookies (great little gifts for family and friends when you return.)

I didn't love it, but I liked it a little. Pros: It was fun ordering anything on the menu, and not worrying about the price or the tip. It helped plan out our days, were we would go, and eat.
Pros: Some places have spicific things you can and can't order on the menu. When we changed our minds about which park to visit, it was a hassle to change reservations. The outside Disney resturants were bad, bad food and service, so if you are not in the park, I would eat at McDonalds. We often showed up early for our reservation, and still had to wait a while to be seated. On the other hand, we were 5 minutes late (honestly), and they put us behind a lot of people. We still needed to eat breakfast, snacks in some parks were not included, and we still needed to buy drinks.

There is a meal plan where you get one main dining per day per person of either breakfast, lunch or dinner. This includes the character breakfast if you like. Also you get one counter food such as a hot dog and one snack such as a bag of chips or soda.
The meal plans ARE a good idea and you will save money. There are several restaurant options to choose from. It isn't just from your hotel. Also if you are wanting to do the water parks it is best to book those in advance you wil save a lot actually instead of purchasing upon arrival they are about double the cost.

i've never used the dinning plan as a guest... i worked for disney tho... so i know that it works very good... plenty of the families have one of these so they don't have to carry a lot of cash.. and every member of your party gets an ID so if you go on different ways everyone can get food from the restaurants... there are like 3 different plans.. so look for the one that fills your needs... i guess that the basic plan includes and entree, beverage and dessert in every meal.. plus snacks if you want them..
i think you should try it... and its the best way to save money if you dont want to spend more than the expected...;)
good luck!!

You really have to plan your park visits ahead of time so you can make reservations at the sit down restaraunts in advance.

Not a good idea. We felt sooooooo full after breakfast that we often skipped lunch, eating something light for dinner.
If you guys are big feeders, then it may work out. But those buffets are sooooo great and filling, chances are you'll do better picking your own meals
We just couldn't eat three full meals a day, by their standards

i don't like it because you can't be spontaneous. you always have to be aware of time and try to make your reservations. I don't like to leave rides, attractions to go eat.~~~~
