First off, if you ever need additional math help, feel free to contact me through Yahoo Answers.
What you need to do is distribute the numbers in front, ie multiply times the numbers in parantheses. Then you combine the like terms. Here's the work:
13. 4(x+3)-5
4x+12-5 - multiply four times x and three
4x+7 - combine the 12 and -5 to 7.
14. 6(7+x)+5x
42+65+5x - multiply six times seven and x
107+5x - combine the 42 and 65 to 107
5x+107 - this step is not important, but math teachers tend to prefer having the variable term (5x) in front of the number (107)
15. 3(5+3x)-4x
15+9x-4x - multiply three times five and 3x
15+5x - combine the 9x and -4x
5x+15 - again, unimportant step of rearranging to put the variable term in front.
Hope this helps you. Feel free to ask me for more help.

you distribute the first number to the equation in the parentheses. so for like 13. you would do 4 times 1 which would give you 4x and then you would also distribute the 4 to the three making that 12. so now the equation reads 4x + 12 - 5.
just do the same for the rest of them.

4x+12-5
4x+7
4x=-7
x=-7/4
42+6x+5x
42+11x
11x=-42
x=-42/11
15+9x-4x
15+5x
5x=-15
x=-15/5
x=-3

I'll show the first, then you can probably do the rest in a flash. You need to use the distributive property to get that four thru.
4x+12-5
4x-7 this is as simplified as it gets
