are detatcheable zippers for coats the same? someone gave me a coat made in sri lanka and the zipper runner is attached to the right side, when all coats i had since before had runners on the left. is it a gender thing or a sri lankan thing or a fatory defect? hehe

Women's clothing differs from men's because women, rich women, used to have maids that dressed them, so the zipper was on the side that was easiest for the maid, and I think that they still do that in Sri Lanka. They still do it with most companies in the U.S. I have one jacket that I got from Parisians that has the zipper on a side I'm not used to, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I ready don't know but it sounds like a gender thing and I for one would like them to make everything the same like the buttons on the same side for men or women-I think it is stupid! Then a woman could wear all those shirts that her x's leave behind-without any notice of it!

women's buttons are on the opposite side because in Medevial times the Ladies had someone dress them and it was easier with the buttons on that side .
