You should thank your lucky stars you don't live abroad and have to rely on BBC Prime for your relaxation and entertainment - it really sucks but it's the only British entertainment channel (in Turkey).

The BBC does churn out some sh it, but in the main I think it's programmes are very good - compared to most satelite channels. However, I think where it falls down is in the fact that it doesn't really have to compete - it gets the majority of it's funding from UK Citizens via the governments licence fee. If it had to fund itself through advertising it would probably be more selective about some of the programmes it produces.

i think the comedy on BBC is totally s**t and has been for a while but documentaries are quite good-but not worth the licence fee. As bad as it is it is nothn compared to the utter mind numbing drivel from other countries have to offer. In conclusion- better tan abroad but BBC comedy needs some serious work on its scripts

so what about spooks, dalziel and pascoe, waking the dead, on 2 we have top gear... it shows good stuff, and theres no ads from macdonalds... in fact its the only station i watch live, i record everything else (ive got a digital video) and i just FF past the ad breaks at x32.. ok, im sad, but i like greys anatomy..it went from C4 to living Tv... living for a word from the sponsors..6 minutes of ads... two ad breaks before the and of the credits... thats awful Tv, thankfully i i dont have to watch n realtime...
so i disagree, teh BBC isnt crap... its the best value for money around... ive also got cable and freeview... and with few exceptions, the BBC programming is the best.

I guess you've never lived anywhere else than the UK?
If you had you'd soon realise how good the BBC is. Try living with American TV. After a few days you feel as if you've undergone a frontal lobotomy!

Because much of their news output isn't actually impartial. It's too left-leaning to be described as such.
As for some of their programmes, that're not too bad, and Top Gear is unmissable stuff. It's actually ITV who are in a rut ion this area, and proably everything else come to think of it.

Doctor Who's fantastic!
Torchwood's going to be fantastic!
Sarah Jane Investiagtes might be OK...!
Robin Hood looks like it might be OK too!
They're getting better!
Oh, and they have Match of the Day - which is brilliant, as long as you Sky Plus it, mute it and fast forward the bits in between the actual football...

Its because they want to make cheap programmes so they can cream off all the money for themselves.
All the channels are doing it.
