I have Cystic Fibrosis and am diabetic so over the years I named medical supplies or treatments:

IV's = Juice
Nebulizer = Darth Vader (due to the masks most often used by children)
Nebulizer Medicine Cups = Bongs
Oxygen Concentrator = Hosey
Portable Oxygen = Hosey Jr.
Glucose Monitor/Lancet = Dracula
Hospitalizations for lung infections = Tune-ups (common name used by CF'ers)
Walking extremely slowly = Slothing (we used this term prior to my lung transplant because I couldn't get enough air, even with oxygen, to walk at anywhere close to normal speeds)

I name my pets after celebrities but once we bought this like tree flower type of deal and the guy at the nursery was like YOU cant kill this thing. WEll hubby named it marlyn, I was like NO marylin died young and that dam plant died,lol like 3 weeks later
