Use sudsy amonia in your washer [along with your usual detergent] instead of bleach. It really helps to get the odour of sweat and other stale smells out. Use about one cup per washload and don't overload the washer so the clothes get a good toss around in the amonia/water mix. Things like scented products just add to the smell that already exists.

Id try not only detergent with Febreeze but, liquid fabric softener with Febreeze works really well at removing smells from fabrics in my experience. I even had a few shirts that still smelled after being washed and dried and when i washed them again with the softener with Febreeze the smell was gone. Good luck : )

Depending on the fabric, you might want to soak them in hot/warm water with detergent for 20 minutes or so. Then let it drain and begin a normal cycle. This time you might want to add some lavender, or some other fragrant plant/herb. Use soap with this load as well. Put both the soak and normal cycle on a higher setting of water than it needs to be. Don't let the clothes sit in the washer for too long before putting them in the dryer. Good luck.

there are sooo many different laundry detergents out there so find one with a good scent. Also use fabric softner in the wash and in the dryer. For whites bleach will definitley get that smell out or buy some new shirts.

I think the smell derived from the shirts is because you have not dried it enough when you take it back from outside,,,hence the smell. You try to dry it longer under the sun and I am sure the smell will go away.

Don't bother washing those damn things. Hang them outside for 5-7 weeks. That should do the trick. Then again, maybe there's something medically wrong with your nose. Forget the above, just go straight to the emergency room. It sounds like you don't have much time left. Hurry...GO NOW!

Try more detergent and non-chlorine bleach followed by those scented dryer towelettes. Also suggest to your partner that some deodorant would be a good idea so the clothes don't stink.

throw a cup of baking soda in the washing machine with the detergent - it works great!
And dont dry it in the dryer again, until you are sure the smell is out, might have to air dry to be sure.

Have you tried Tide detergent with Febreze?
Or you can use baking soda w/ your washing detergent.
