Look, I admit to favoring demos over pubs but frankly I would like to see other choices also. The thing is how can you vote for a minor party if we don't have run-off elections for the highest offices in the land. It always seems that if you want to vote for someone else that you've pulled a vote from the lesser of two evils. In summary I think we should have run-off elections for president and both houses of congress.

osama, like I said, I am advocating run-off elections. I know what you say is true but you will never be able to stop third parties from running, nor should you.

America is based on a two party system. There always is, of course, an option of voting for a liberal or even a write in. It has always worked and will continue to work. It's not a stranglehold. The problem has come from the in-fighting in congress from the liberals who have no intention of voting for ANYTHING the conservatives stand for. Considering that at this point the liberals have no platform on which to run and no person with a gram of brain to run. Do you really wish we could have Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean or Hillary Clinton for president. These are four of the meanest-spirits on planet earth. We do not need a flip flop, angry person in the White House.

Its going to have to be a process. the biggest thing that you can do, is actually vote for your third party canidate of choice. when they actually start winning a real share of elections, two things will happen. first, the big two will have to adapt to win back voters, and the perception about third parties will change, making it easier for the public to vote for them. its a long road, but really the only option to break the two party stranglehold.

When will people realize the two headed monster shares the same body?
When will people say they have had enough of being lied to and stabbed in the back?
When will they finally see that there is no two party after all, just one.

No. It is not just the 2 party system we have but the money funding that keeps em there. Unless a 3rd party gets enough funding to compete with the Democrats and Republicans, these 3rd parties will only be a leech if not a waste of a vote.
