At the begining of the summer I bought a bathing suit that was $80 (total top and botom) and i want to have it last as long as possible. Its white and light blue striped and it got a lot of use this summer. I noticed the blue stripes were becoming less bold and i was wondering if theres anything i can do to stop this. I pretty sure all bathing suits fade, but can you make it take longer by adding washing a specific way or something?

DO NOT wash your swimsuits in the machine. Always handwash it in your sink and use a very mild soap. Wash in cold water and rinse in cold water. then hang it up to dry in. Your swimsuits will last a lot longer that way.

Yes your right. All bathing suits fade. Most times it's caused by the chemicals that's in the water. Or it's being washed to much. I used tide to wash my bathing suit and it kind of helped a little. Another way is to wash out by hand and hang to dry that works. Or you could just rinse the bathing suit after you use it and hang to dry. By the way make sure that the washing soap that you use is the best for your material of the bathing suit that could be one of the problems.

Actually one of the best ways to prevent fading on a swim suit is not to dry it in the dryer. By hanging it out to dry in your bathroom the colors will last just a little bit longer then they would being dryed in the dryer. My parents have a pool at thier house and I swear my mom has had the same swimsuit for the past 5 years. Her yellow swimsuit still looks really good, she swears it is because she never drys it in the dryer.

I dont reallyn think it matter what you wash it in, if you are getting in a pool with clorine and also the sun will fade things to.
If you dont ever want a suit to fade, stay out of the sun and away from the pool.....:)

I would wash in Woolite only and rinse well and hang dry.

Clothes will fade no matter what you do because of being in the sun and in the water. Cheer has some soaps out that claim to maintain colors. A lot of companies claim to save the colors but unless you try each one to prove them wrong you will never know.

They actually make color bleach that protect darker colors. But it won't really help because you are in the sun and the cholorie of the pool which makes it fade even more..Next time by two or three of the suits so you always have one for just hunting the men

I've never had luck restoring the color in bathing suits though I've tried different products. I wash mine in the sink and hang in the shower - away from the sun. Good luck!

You need to wash it in cold water only and line dry, wash with Woolite for delicate items i wash mine in the sink and never put them in the dryer, it should last longer that way.

Wash it by hand with a soft soap. Try not to get sunblock or suntan lotion on it.
