Because angles are only two intersecting lines forming a degree of space (up to 360 degrees)- I don't remember *any* mention in the Bible.

Good luck!

Because religions as a whole and the bible in particular considers women to be second-rate beings. Think about it, what major religion, (other then buddhism where all beings are equal) considers women to be equal to men?? Zero, zip, nada. Don't buy that crap that angels have no gender either, it's another cop-out by the religious folk whenever there's a question they cannot answer. The chauvinists who wrote the bible a few millenia ago MADE them male. So who here has had a first-hand peak up an angels tunic to tell for sure? First, all angels have males names. Second, when featured in the bible, the reference is to "him". As far as religion is concerned, angels are male. Whether they truly are or not, is up for debate.

You have to take into consideration that the stories of the Bible came from an amalgamation of stories from several different cultures. It was a patriarchal society, and so all of the important figures in the Bible are attributed with male characteristics.

If I remember correctly, only 2 were - Gabriel and Michael.
3 if you count Lucifer, but he was not named then.

Angels are without gender. Gender wasn't (if the the Genesis story is to be taken as fact) invented until several days *after* Creation when God realized that Adam shouldn't be alone. This happens in 2:21.

This brings about another question: Did God go back and give gender to the animals that he created on the 5th and 6th days? If he did, why isn't it mentioned?

Because all the female angles weren't acute enough. (And no male angles are listed, because they were too obtuse, right?)

Because Christianity is a chauvinist religion. Why do you think God, Jesus, and Satan are powerful and male, while Mary is the mere mother?

Because none of them were acute, only obtuse.

Ya, I agree with the first poster. Angels are spiritual beings and therefore don't go with our human ideas of sex.
