Can anyone recommend a good antidote to Fox News?

The thing I find most offensive about it is that they won't let anyone with a different opinion to themselves put it across without being shot down in flames.

I am looking forward to Al Jazeera starting. (Sorry if I spelt that wrong).

Does anyone watch the arabic version of the channel now? Is it like fox news or do they allow another point of view to be put across? Are they as passionate in their position as fox news or are they neutral?

Bound's hubby here:

Al Jazeera is a Muslim news agency. Remember how open-minded the Muslims were when the Pope made comments about Muhammad and Islam? Al Jazeera makes Fox News look ultra-liberal. Remember, in the Islamic faith there are no other faiths. If you're looking for objectivity try the free websites for the newspapers in a number of the different nation's capitols. One website I use as a guage is Channel Asia News (see link below). I sometimes find this news agency reports events before they makes CNN.

Good luck in your search for truth.

Obviously, most of the commentators are speaking with experience not prejudice. Al Jazeera are often criticised for their coverage in Arab countries because they try very hard to appear neutral and often are as critical of Arab regimes as they are of the US. They also try and be populist so they do tend to have more gore than the other international news agencies. I cannot understand why anyone would watch Fox, I used to sometimes watch it in Thailand but they seemed very insular and sometimes quite barmy in their appraisals of situations without even a pretence of impartiality, some items seemed very made up, they had a guy stating that France was on the verge of collapse as the US was not buying their good, etc. Al Jazeera obviously would have a contrasting viewpoint but it does seem more professional and has a wider range of news than Fox. I would also recommend Reuters (www.reuters.com) which has news feeds that you can watch on-line. This is a British company that provides a different edge to the BBC in what it presents, it is also very comprehensive despite the busy website. Despite what people say, it does have a very good and neutral tone in the vast majority of cases and tries as best it can to appear neutral.

Why isn't Al Jazeera English allowed to broadcast on US airlines yet Fox information is? according to probability it has some thing to do with the undeniable fact that Fox information works because of the fact the propaganda gadget for the conservatives who're making the regulations! ;-)

An antidote to Faux News? Try CSPAN or maybe CSPAN 2, there is a commentator named Brian Lamb. The first time I watched him and his guest I thought there was something wrong with Brian. He did not use any anger, excitement, accusatory tones, no emotion--just asked relative questions and actually alloweed his guest to answer, then would ask even more detailed questions based on the answer sometimes. Even tho he seems emotionless, his program is refreshing.
