curving outwards like a segment of a globe
)
the left hand side of this bracket would be a concave lens
the right hand side of this lens would be a convex lens
If you were to shine a laser through the top half of a lens (left to right) like this then a convex one would cause the laser to vere toward some upper extremity, behaving like a convex lens, similarly shining the laser through from right to left the lens would be like a concave lens, causing the light to vere toward the centre to a lower extermity
Hope this helped :)
Interesting fact:
Laser is not a word, it actually stands for:
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation
.........Just thought I'd tell you that, can't you tell I'm bored and over educated! (as well as full of useless information)

Convex is the opposite of concave.
Think of the "cave" part of the word concave. You can walk into a cave, so concave means pushing in.
Convex is the opposite. Think of a pregnant lady's belly. It pushes out. That's convex!

if you are talking about geometry....convex is an outward curve. and concave is an inward curve. It's hard to explain with just words. when i had geometry, my textbook really helped with pictures. if you dont have a book, try glencoe.com

Convex means that something is humped up, or curved out. If something is concave, it is sunken in.
