I really do think it's a divisive tool.
When you take a step back, does anyone really hate that badly? no. --well, except seemingly the republicans who are filled with vicious hatred toward 'liberals' for some ungodly reason, i don't know.
But, the point is, MOST americans agree on MOST issues. THis dem. vs. Repub crap is totally useless blather to me really, and I can't understand how anyone can see any real substance or use to it...besides using the labels to abuse others in some way...
I don't care for either party really, so it annoys me when a repub assumes I'm a democrat.
I'm actually conservative AND liberal, so these baiting questions seem more like a diversion from real issues.

Many people have some very strong opinions and political philosophies that were formed over many years. Partisan bickering has been going on for probably more than 200 years in this country. That doesn't make it right, but through it all we have survived.

I really would like to see everyone reach an agreement to avoid using terms such as "Conservative" and "Liberal"and "Socialist", and make everyone explain what they mean when they refer to people who hold those beliefs.

It divides them because they do not make any decisions. They are too busy bickering to give two shi*s about the voters and are only concerned with defending the party. If they would just compromise and make a decision we could put the issues to rest and GET OVER IT!!! With all the bickering, no decisions are being made and the rift will get wider and wider to the point that it won't close and we will have many more problems to deal with. I don't see how our leaders cannot see this.

Dissent is Patriotic. If you don't know that, I suggest reading about the history of the United States.

It's perfectly patriotic; each side stands for something and voices it openly.
