It depends on what you need it for. If you need it for home use the a mac is the way to go. They might seem expensive at first but note that they come with most of the applications you need. Also, you can purchase Microsoft Office for your Mac. You will NOT get viruses on you Mac OS X computer..or spyware or any of those things that XP users get.

You should get a PC running windows if you like pain and frustration as you will soon have it CRAWLING due to viruses and all kinds of other things.

I own both Windows and Mac machines... when compared the Windows machines seem primitive. I am by no means a Mac Head... as Linux is my OS of choice... but having to help family and friends with Windows issues I now recommend Macs.

Do not take my word for it:

One last thing:
You will rarely have to restart your mac as compared to your Windows PC...

Save the money you will spend on anti-virus software and paying someone to fix your windows pc and buy yourself a mac.

A few pros and cons.

On the job I deal mainly with Windows. When they started bringing in Macs for us to use, I hated them at first, but then grew to love them.

I have both Macs and Windows for my home systems. The majority of the time I use Macs. I would hardly call the processors in Macs inferior, the MacPro has 2 Dual Xeon (Woodcrest), the Imacs use the Core2 Duo. Even the lowend MacBook has the Core Duo.

I cringe when I see the commercials, there are viruses and spyware that attack Macs, fewer than Windows, but they exist.

Macs rarely freeze, I've never experienced it, and to be fair I've only had a couple Windows systems freeze on me.

Going strictly on a price basis the Mac does not make financial sense. Very few games available for it, but I have a PS2 and PSP for those times.

I am a huge Windows fan, but I advise many people to get a MAC if they are not so computer savvy. The problem with Windows is that it is an unstable Operating system after you’ve installed all those different programs from different manufacturers, not to mention their Spyware problem that can bring your Windows Operating System to its knees. Spyware is a huge Windows problem and if you are not like me (a Windows Pro) you should get a MAC. MAC’s are made for people that want to have an easy computer life, not a stressful one. I can go on about this for hours, but take my advice and get a MAC. MAC’s do not crash so don’t listen to those people that say they do. I have a MAC laptop that has never crashed on me sense I purchased it two years ago. I never had to reinstall the Operating System either. It’s still running strong as if I purchased it yesterday. Remember, this advice is coming from a Windows user. Get the picture?

If you've never used Mac's it can be kinda confusing first booting up your mac. They handle much differently than a PC. Some people love them, others hate them. Personally they offer ups and downs to me. But if you think Windows sucks just wait until a mac locks up on your or randomly crashes for no reason. Windows has become more stable than Mac's to me in my humble opinion.

All depends on your style of computing.

if you do get a mac, you may want to get one with windows on it otherwise it my be a lot of trouble trying to get use to the different layout of mac OS. but if you have no real need for a mac you should stick with PC because they are easy to upgrade, have windows, have more stuff available for them, and can be modified to look cool or run a certain way.

unless you ahve a very very specific reason i recomend not getting one. they are far over priced and not especially superior. and theres no reason to switch to a totally knew operating system. they do get viruses contrary to commercials...also the processors (core duo or core solo) are inferior. there more veriety with a pc (you can get p4 or an amd product etc)
