The US does not want a democracy in Iraq. They want the facade of a democracy that can be controlled by the US. After WWII US elite called the middle east the biggest piece of pie in the history of the world. What is happening today is a culmination of a plan put in action 60+ years ago.

The US has installed puppet governments in countries all over the world, from Latin America to Asia and now the Middle East. All these areas serve some strategic purpose that the US elite want to exploit.

you can't give someone democracy, the people of Iraq must fight for it themselves, otherwise they'll never appreciate it or accept it! Going into Iraq (for whatever reason the government lied about) was stupid - forcing democracy on those people is even dumber. Democracy is a change that comes gradually, not overnight. First you have to have stability, economic prosperity, leisure time, and then people will be ASKING for democracy. If you have a dictatorship that outsiders overthrow, then you will just have a power vacuum, and the result will be civil war and anarchy...oh wait...kind of like now!

personally i dont think u can help a country that can not help or will not help itself.there are so many differant factions in iraq that can not agree to anything that they do.so many differant outlooks on stuff from the people that live there.
hey listen to me.we have the same thing over here in america.
really i think the differance is that our country was founded to be a democracy.that is what our forefathers wanted and that is what we have had since we were founded as a country.
iraq has never had a democracy, there for i think it will be very hard to install a democracy there.but like i said the citizens of iraq will have to agree to things to get it done.

The Iraqi people will never accept a puppet government set up by George Bush, they will have a civil war whether we are there or not. Besides it was never about bringing democracy to Iraq. It was about the oil.

The theory is that a democratic Iraq will inspire other countries in the middle east to become democratic, and that democratic societies won't produce whole generations of angry young men with no hope for the future who turn to terrorism. There may be some truth to that, but I think it is an unrealistic approach.

Because Supreme court decide presidency here, may be real democracy will work well elsewhere. We took democracy out of here and took it to middle east with a good luck sign attached to it.

Bush wants to rule the world.

Really, it is a very thinly veiled attempt to cover up the "removal" of Saddam. Nothing more. Giving Iraq a new government is just a by-product of the invasion.

Yes, and how much of a standing army do we have to leave there permanently to enforce this democracy? In Iran? In North Korea? In Syria?.....and on and on.

To have a strong, reliable country in the Middle East as an ally. Not to mention the freedoms the innocent people deserve.

Eric H also has a good point, and that is exactly the goal of Iraqi Democracy.
