i know this has nothing to do with pregnancy but please help me anyways cause this forum responds quick then any other.
i had an HIV test but it wasn't an anonymous test. lets say i am HIV +...will the results go on my medical file and will my family doctor find out? or do the clinics have to keep it confidential?

they gotta keep it confidential...but let me let you in on a lil secret...NEVER I MEAN NEVER lie to your doctors...they are the only ones who can help you and they cant help if you lie to them...pluz they keep it confidential so its not like they can go telling everyone. HIV tests, and other matters of that nature, are supposed to be kept confidential.

I think that they have to keep it confidential, but you NEED to tell your doctor!!!!!!!!! That is not some thing you want to leave out. I don't think that they will treat you different as a person, but it will make a difference how you are treated as a patient.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD THAT ALL MEDICAL RECORDS ARE CONFIDENTIAL. I KNOW SOME PAPERS THAT YOU FILL OUT USUALLY WILL ASK YOUR PERMISSION IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH ANOTHER DOCTOR. OR HOSPITAL.

It would be against the law for them to share such information with anyone but you without your written permission.
