Juan Ponce de León (c. 1460 – July 1521) was a Spanish conquistador. He was born in Santervás de Campos (Valladolid). As a young man he joined the war to conquer Granada, the last Moorish state on the Iberian peninsula. Ponce de León accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World. He became the first Governor of Puerto Rico by appointment of the Spanish Crown. He is regarded as the first European known to have visited what is now the continental United States, as he set foot in Florida in 1513.

He also established the oldest European settlement in Puerto Rico and discovered the Gulf Stream (a current in the Atlantic Ocean). Ponce de Leon was searching for the legendary fountain of youth and other riches.

Hozumi Hasegawa just started fighting at Featherweight Division and at present we still can not gauge how he will fare in that weight class however, if the fight happens in Japan, Hasegawa's home country, I would say Hozumi winning by UD but if it is in the US, it would be a give and take depending on the condition of Ponce de Leon. Fighting in front of your countrymen always give an extra edge and motivation to perform better. Hozumi Hasegawa was a very good fighter who fought primarily in Japan. It is known that for a foreign fighter to win in somebody's backyard is to win by KO and that is what Montiel did.
