This is a great question.I am a mother of twins and i am very informed on this issue.Having fraternal twins is the only gene passed on that could make it possible for you to have twins. This would have to be passed from your moms side of the family to you the female.Having twins has nothing to do with the father.Men have a million sperm (per say) everytime they ejaculate so in order to have twins you , the woman has to release 2 eggs which has nothing at all to do with him. When it comes to identical twins that is not hereditary identical twins is a moracle of an egg splitting which could happen to any woman. This is a subject most don't understand ,read up on it its really interesting

First off the maternal side plays more of a role in determining twins. Fraternal twins come from ovulating twice at the same time, and Identical come from the egg splitting. From my understanding either of this to things happening are genetically determined by the mother. Also twins usually skip a generation. My mother is a twin, so its unlikely she would have twins, but likely I would.

well i am not for sure but all i can tell you is that my mom is a fraternal twin and my father an identical twin and then there are a set on my babys daddys side and yet we still ended up w/ one.the doctor said i had about a 70% just b.c both my parents were twins..so i guess you really don't know until they tell you whether you are carrying twins or your not.

The chance and ratio of twins aren't as concrete as was once thought.

If there are twins in the genes, you do have a chance but it's still hard to say exactly what the chances are.

There is a certain statistical probability of twins in every pregnancy. I have read that some families tend to have more twins, but don't remember any numbers.

There is a very good chance that you could have twins - even more so if there are twins somewhere on your side as well. Sorry I don't know the correct percentages but more often than not it does run in families.

It's more likely that twins who come from the Mother's side will have twins

Your boyfriends father will not have any influence on YOU being able to produce twins. It will be from your eggs... nothing to do with sperm at all. Faternal twins comes from you releasing two eggs at the same time. Indentical twins comes from your egg spliting into two eggs.... unless some how the sperm can make the egg split into two????
