my riding lawn mower is 20hp and my push mower is 5hp most go carts are 5hp.

Look up James Watt. He developed the term and scientific calculation for horsepower but it's just too complicated in these days. In the near future, strength of engines will be rated in Watts. Good luck.

Horsepower is a measurement of 'power" ability,how engine strength is measured, it's not the "speed" of anything.
