Unless you want a philosophical or spiritual answer, I guess the energy comes from the sun. The sun gives energy to plants, plants grow, animals eat the plants, we eat the animals and plants, we step onto ledges.

The reference is a good place to start learning about energy. Look particularly at the Feynman quotation on conservation of energy. Look at a physics book in a library.

We can apply conservation of energy back in time, all the way back to the Big Bang (if that's the way it happened). Before that, all we can say is God created it.
