Are laptop and notebook the same? Where could I get some good deals? I want to get rid of my desktop for a laptop.

I had a terrible time with Best Buy when I bought my laptop there in June. They sold me an open box, claiming that they had just opened it to show a customer right before me. I was hesitant, but needed that model asap so I went for it. The ports didn't work at all, several programs that come standard had been deleted, etc. Needless to say I wanted to return it. They made me have it looked at buy their Geek Squad, and I spent 4 hrs on a Fri. evening waiting for them to finish, they never figured out the problem, nor did they admit that it was used and returned before I bought it. I had to argue with the store manager and wait a week for a delivery to get a replacement. This was a nice computer, over $1,000. To sum it all up, I disagree that Best Buy is a good place to buy a laptop.

I recently purchased a nice laptop (incidentally....laptop and notebooks are the same thing) from Bestbuy at a good price.
NewEgg and Tiger Direct are two great online retailers (NewEgg has better warranty policy and cheaper shipping) that both have great deals.
Dell also has some great deals occasionally online.

Yes, laptops are just aother name for notebooks. Check out sale papers. I bought mine from Staples. It may be a good idea to keep your desktop for a backup.
