Required Items:
CPU (Processor)- Core 2 Duo is a good choice
CPU fan and heatsink (may ship with CPU)
Motherboard
RAM (memory) 2 Gb if you can afford it. Faster memory will improve performance, make sure that it is compatible with your motherboard
Hard drive(s)
Optical Drive (DVD drive)
Case
Power Supply Unit (may ship with your case)- get atleast 500W for a high power gaming computer.
Graphics Card- one of the most important parts of your gaming computer
Screen
Keyboard
Mouse

Optional Equipment:
Liquid cooling- keeps your CPU cooler and improves performance
Sound Card: sound is integrated on your motherboard, but a sound card frees up CPU usage and improves quality.
Extra Fans and lights- keeps computer cool and looking awesome

Case, power supply, motherboad, processor, video card (these are both often on the motherboard), RAM, hard drive, CD or DVD, keyboard, mouse -- All required.

You might want a floppy, but I wouldn't bother any more. If you are planning on gamming, you will want a pretty good video card--better than the on-board. You want at least 512 RAM, but I like a GB. You may also want an audio card (there is usually a basic one on the motherboard) and speakers.

then you need a Motherboard that it fits

Then you need as much Ram as you can get and a huge hard drive,

Might I suggest a couple of 300gb or a 500 gb
