America is of course. No matter what people say and how much they criticize us, everyone comes over here, not third world central america. If the people that complain about how they are treated in America went back to their native countries, I'm sure they wouldn't be treated any better because after all they left their country for a reason. Blacks who call themselves african americans and most of them have never even seen Africa, probably wouldn't want to live there either , especially the poor ones because they would be living out in the middle of no where starving , their children would look like the ones we see on tv, therefore Africa is not such a great place for the poor, no free housing, foodstamps, etc. Those from central america wouldn't have it so great either, begging on the streets instead of getting free lunches and foodstamps. Why does everyone come here and criticize America, it is really the greatest country, even now

We're not as good as you think, although for sure I'd rather live here than in Africa or Central America. The country considered the healthiest, safest, and best-run is FINLAND, and the Finns don't have to worry about terrorists, either. Sweden also gets high marks. Fact is, there are several countries in the world better-run than the USA, and if you yourself lived in one, you'd have better job benefits, better public health care, and better public transportation than you have in Texas.

Why do people criticise and dislike America so much....
USA foreign policy is often arrogant and cruel and threatens to “blow back” against you in terrible ways. Your consumerist definition of prosperity is killing you, and perhaps the planet. your democracy is an embarrassment to the word, a den of entrenched bureaucrats and legal bribery and more people voted for American Idol then they did for the President who has gone on to stuff up the entire world for the rest of us. Your media are a disgrace to the hallowed concept of freedom of the press. Your precious civil liberties are under siege, Your economy is dividing you into rich and poor, your signature cultural activities are shopping and watching television. To top it off, your business and political elites are insisting that your model should also be the world’s model, through the glories of corporate-led globalization.
America, in short, is a mess—a cultural wasteland, an economic nightmare, a political abomination, an international misfit, outlaw, parasite, and pariah. If Americans don’t know this already, it is, in one AMerican critics view, precisely because they are Americans: “Foreigners,” he proposes, “can see things about America that natives cannot. . . . Americans can learn from their perceptions, if we choose to.”
Do you know how much better the living conditions are in developed countries outside of your own and how much yours is a luaghing stock. No free health care and medicine subsidies, massive poverty rates, unaffordable higher education (where i come from it is virtually free), a lower minimum wage than 20 yrs ago, messed up gun laws and highest gun deaths for a developed/not in war country (oh yeah wasn't there another insident in a Colorado school), your prison population is bigger than the rest of the world combined, almost 20 per cent of your country live in absolute poverty conditions (1 in 6 children live in third world conditions), the masses of homeless, the list goes on.
Stop comparing with the poor countries in your region and oen your eyes to developed nations in the world like Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Swittzerland etc.
But the real reson why everyone hates America (although not all Americans) is their ignorance and arrogance in the belief that they actually have the best living standards and people want to live in their country.

Where is your question? It seems you have already answered your own question and leave no room for debate. Come now... I'm from America also but that don't mean it's the greatest....................... even though we all know it is.

america isn't all that great. i prefer freer countries. my favourites are the ones where corporal punishment of children is absolutely outlawed. denmark, sweden, etc. any country which allows its citizens to hit children is not a country which tolerates respect for all.

You seem to base your esitimation of a country on how much money it has. And you talk about people who are attracted to where the money is. Hmm?????????????? What is great about being attracted selfishly to money?
