Check the connection first (monitor to computer),then see if your Video card is built into the mother-bord or plugged into a slot (like an AVG slot).
If Its a video card shut down the system remove and re-seat the card.
Reboot

If ya still have problems start looking at soft wear

Two possible things. One is that the monitor data cable is faulty in some way. Sometimes a pin inside cud not be making proper contact or one broke off. Sometimes the cable may be damaged

Two is that yur video card is faulty. Old age or possible overheating. If u want, borrow a nex monitor or try and put yur monitor on another computer. If the foreign monitor is giving problems, is yur video card. If yur monitor gives d problem on the foreign computer, is yur monitor. Laterz.

My computer did this when the powersupply for my computer went out. It didn't send power to all of the mother board which resulted in the computer kind of turning on but not all the way and not starting the video card.

Either the monitor cable isn't completely tight, the video card isn't seated tight, or you need a new video card.

Maybe cord connecting PC to Monitor is loose or damaged. Check the connections or replace the cord.
