If it is a BIOS password (really early in the start up) you can clear the BIOS with a jumper setting.

If it is a Windows password: try administrator and a blank password (you may have to start in safe mode). If there is a password on the admin account and you don't know any of the passwords you have two choices

1- Reinstall the system
2- Crack the password--This software is relatively expensive, but your local computer repair shop can do it in about 10 min.

Note: If this isn't your computer anything after attempting the admin account will be noticed. I'm not worried about telling you because anyone who put a password on their account should have see the admin one too and if they are that stupid they deserve it. It works pretty often.

Is the protection by password in Windows or in the BIOS? If its in the BIOS, there's normally a way to clear the BIOS using hardware jumpers, but you'll have to read the user manual to see how to do it.

You would have to go into dos and change the settings to default on the password and then you would get the regular clink on sign in screen.
