I have done the research of capitol hill online and in books. What I want to know now is people's opinions of this neighborhood. What is renting like here, hanging out, transportation, anything that those of you who are familar with capitol hill can tell me would be great. Thank you to all of you.

Capitol Hill is kind of a strange place, because you have the more eclectic crowd, the rich snooty people, and some areas are even more on the ghetto side...so depending on which one of those types of places you are interested in, there's quite a mix of people and landscape.

Transportation is good, because it's still very close to downtown and there's always buses going back and forth.

Renting can be pretty spendy on Capital hill...beware of apartments that seem bargain priced, because they are bargain priced for a reason. There are usually alot of rental listings in both The Stranger and at Craigslist.org for the Capital Hill neighborhood.

I personally wouldn't live on Capitol Hill, I prefer something more quiet...but that's just me and not saying it isn't a great place to live. All of Seattle is pretty amazing. :)

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Capitol Hill has gotten really expensive to rent in recent years. It's a fun, funky neighborhood that's amenable to walking and well served by the bus system. Parking can be hard to find. There's an active nightlife there; I prefer to live in a quieter neighborhood (in Ballard) and just visit the bars and clubs on Capitol Hill myself (plus, for some reason, I always get lost there!)

There are a lot of Hippy Type young people hanging around Capitol Hill,
the kind that likes loud rock music and associated activities.
Personally, I prefer a quiet neighborhood such as Magnolia.

I have been in Seattle since 1989.
I go up to Capitol Hill once in a while.
Don't know about rents.
Plenty of hangouts in area.
Lively...there's stuff going on ....restaurants and bars in area.
Mostly youngish crowd.
Most appear under 40...or way under forty
Seattle has pretty good bus system.
You are not far from downtown and bus connections to Eastside of Lake Washington...Mercer Island ,Belleview, Kirkland. And northbound and Southbound routes...Everett/Tacoma.
Capitol Hill has more than its its share of oddballs and panhandlers.
Like Capitol Hill way more than University District.

Protesters practically live in Lafayette Park across from the White House. The city has hundreds of undercover secret service all around. Capitol Hill is a wonderful and expensive place to live. Congressmen and Senators live there in old houses. The rest of DC can be dangerous.
