Get a measuring cup, put half with water, put egg in, the amount that water rises is the volume of that egg.

It's about a 1/4 cup, but why ask in physics?

Perhaps you need to know the volume of an ellipsoid of revolution! and the egg thing isn't important.

Anyway, is it a large? extra large?

I'd use 3/4pi*r^3 (volume of a sphere) using the average of the two main diameters (the smallest and largest).

But with real eggs, nothing beats (lol) experimentation.

Break a few into a cup measure!

take a bowl of water at about 50cm^3 and put an egg in it..you'll see some water is out of the bowl...take the egg out and count the volume of water that left in the bowl by using a meassure silinder...then abstract the first volume of the water(without egg in) with the second one...and you'll get the volume of an egg...

it's the Archimedes concept..

Check an egg carton. I don't have eggs right now but if you do they sometimes state the volume of eggs on the carton...but I'm not totally sure.
