i bought the psp value pack which includes the game console, a memory stick, headphones and a cute little case to carry it around in. i also bought a psp power and data cable along with the value pack. is this all i need to upload or do i need the software????

A mini-USB to USB cable, nothing else, many people use media managers though to convert and transfer video's, as Sony made it harder to do than a quadratic equation.
If you've bought a mobile phone in the past few years, or a digital camera or something, chances are you may already have one of these cables, which will be fully compliant with the PSP.

the power/data cable is probably the only thing you need, but if you want to put big video or lots of music on your psp, you're going to need a lager memory card. if you go to you local game store they should be able to point one out for a cheap price. mine is a 1gig that i got for @ 50-60 dollars. they may be expensive, but they are well worth it....

no software needed Just a usb cable just ut the psp on usb mode then connect the cords and then from there on its just 123
