The framers did not want it to be easy. An amendment to the constitution is a big deal and should not be taken lightly. It has to be something that the majority of the citizens want and will continue to want in the future. As hard as it is to add an amendment it is even more difficult to remove one.

They did not make it difficult to amend or add to the Consitution. What they made it difficult to do was to change certain principles they wanted to guarantee. The Constitution has been added to lots of times. But, no amendment has ever completely negated a part of the Constituion itself, just updated it for modern views and beliefs.
The framers knew they could not foresee the future, so the Constitution had to be flexible to allow for things that didn't exist in their lives. Plus, they knew current things can change. Look at instructions for the original census to only consider [WRONGLY in my opinion] that certain individuals 1/4 a person when counted or whatever it was.

They made it very difficult because they felt that changes should be hard to make. It is the document that founded our nation and is thus the most important document in the nation and should not be easily changed.

tghey made it difficult because people can't agree on anything, it isn't that they made it difficult, its that it is difficult when a small group wants the change bt a larger group doesn't...
