1 - it depends on the swap. some engines fit into cars easier than others. If it's an easy swap that only requires a couple modifications, then it should only take a few days to 2 weeks. Call the shop and find out.

2 - lots of subarus are all wheel drive. They were doing all wheel drive cars when it wasn't even popular.

If you have ALL THE PROPER TOOLS INCLUDING A ENGINE HOIST AND A TOP NOTCH MANUAL , then you should be able to disconnect & remove one engine and install and reconnect another one in about 2-3 hours. As for a inexpensive car with awd (ALL WHEEL DRIVE) NOT 4WD (FOUR WHEEL DRIVE) look for a jeep eagle looks like a cuttoff four door wagon or a late 1990's -modern day subaru as they all have AWD.

Depending on the auto anywhere from 5 hrs to 25 hrs. A jag v12 can be a nightmare, while a 1960 ford falcon w/overhead cam can be swapped out in around 5 hrs

About 1 to 2 days. Depends on if it's a crate motor' which your bolt in and attach what's missing or if it's a used engine where you have to take everything off the old engine and put it on the newer used one.
Just about any old subaru. Damn near all Subaru's have AWD.....

for your first answer....I'd say basically it could take all day to swap an engine. And I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your second question.

it's all on your level of skill. and just go buy a GMC SYCLONE, it was the fastest thing made in 91, and it's awd, but they still run around 20 grand, but it cost to be the boss
