If this is your first website, you're way ahead of the game.
That said, I should mention that I find the navigation on the left side of the screen a little cluttered, and the low contrast between the font color and the background of your RSS feeds in the middle boxes makes for difficult reading.
Really, though, that's just nit picking. You did a great job... you should be proud!

Not bad. I would suggest reading some information on CSS to style your site. And always build sites in 780 x whatever. This way you don't have the scroll bar across the screen!
Other than that your on your way. Start reading some books and look at other web designers for inspiration but never steal their work. Only admire and pick the bits and pieces you enjoy.
