my heat pump to my a/c went out this summer does that mean my heat for the winter won't work?

Yes, A heat pump just runs in reverse during winter. BUT, I'm sure u have back-up heat such as electical or gas. So the heat will come on but the heatpump itself will not

It may depend on the problem with your heat pump and its connections. If you still have a furnace inside your house, it may be possible to use that for heating, but there may need to be some adjustments to the system.

Call a local HVAC or heat pump service and ask them. Be sure to have the manufacturer and model number handy.

Yes it will not work you will have no heat unless you have electric heat as a back for your system which will be very costly to run

Look on your thermostat for " emerg heat " That'll get you heat. But after you
get your electric bill, you may want to call a heating service.

myotherne answered correctly. You did mean that your a/c quit working too, right? because they are the same unit.
