totally a honda civic! I have a 1997 honda civic coupe and absolutely LOVE it! You can add sooooo much stuff to these cars - and they're affordable and very depdendable! I like to think of my civic as a "sleeper". i've tinted the windows dark and added a custom exhaust system (magnaflow!) My sweet ride purrs! Obviously , get a manual transmission too. Best of luck with the car search, but I suggest the mid-90's honda civic.

p.s. someone made a good comment about rice rockets. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get a cheap tinny sounding exhaust! The best exhuast are those that are deep, low and "purr". Everything else sounds cheap, like a "bumble bee". People will just laugh at you when you drive by, seriously, it's really annoying.

Also, Hondas have excelletn gas mileage. I've been able to get 40+ mpg in my civic! However, insurance always runs high on these babies because people like to 1. steal them and 2. speed them. So, make sure you can pay the insurance. Don't drive without it!

If you're thinking like that then you're probably going to drive it too fast. You need a big, steel clunker. When you get older and after you've learned from a couple of accidents then you can get a car that's worth investing in.

Besides, those huge wings on the back, neon green, spinning rims, obnoxious mufflers type cars don't really do much. You want a good car save your money, build your credit and get a 6 speed Trans Am. Those sound nice and strong. Trust me. That's what my fiance drives. Or a 5 sp Taurus SHO if you like a rare sleeper. And if you're wondering, the SHO can exceed speeds of 140 and is designed to handle it well.

i was going to say vw golf, but you don't want a hatchback so go for a vw vento basically a golf with a boot.they are quite rare compared with the golf, they look good and if you get your parts from Euro Car Parts, it wont cost much to sort out any minor problems it might have.DON'T GO FOR VR6 MODEL if you are on min wage cos the insurance alone will eat all of your money......although it is good fun when you are travelling at about 145 mph. go on autotrader.co.uk and you should be able to get a decent 1.6 or 1.8 for about a grand.

Before purchasing your car, make sure your payment is no more than 20% of your income INCLUDING insurance. Don't over extend yourself and ruin your credit. Forget about adding stuff to it because you don't make enough money. You will be lucky just to be able to make the payments and insurance and put gas in the car.

You cant go wrong with a HONDA! Hondas are very inexpensive and easy to fix and parts are everywhere including bodykits. Good Luck
