Trust me, no to your first question.
Hopefully, yes to your second. Who would want to imagine a never-ending war?

Good analogy. No the government is waging a war on everything...the war on drugs is an abject failure but still continues on some 35 years now. The war on terror is a war on an ideology and I doubt you can change many minds for very long with a gun and bombs. So like the war on drugs the war on terror is doomed to failure.
What a government.

They are both pointless wars because we have created terrorism and we are the largest drug consuming nation in the world. They cannot be won, we will be fighting these wars forever. There is probably no solution to these problems

Oh no, the US Government and the CIA are certainly not done funding paramilitaries in places like Colombia to carry out low intensity warfare against the population in the so-called War on Drugs.
Also, they are far from done capitalizing from the prison-industrial-complex that sends jobs overseas and builds prisons so all the laborers can work their imprisoning thier neighbors instead. Charging them with minor drug offenses, sentencing them to major jail time, and paying judges, cops, lawyers, social workers etc. top dollar to profit off of the petty crimes that people commit. Hell no... it isnt over by far!

Jane the CIA has increased heroin production in Afghanistan to record levels do you really believe in a "war on drugs"?
The real war is to get rid of those who did not pay tribute to America in this world wide drug trade....Oil from Iraq...Heroin from Afaghanistan.

If you sat at the Sarita or Falfurrias checkpoint in South Texas, you would see the war on drugs being waged daily. As long as there is corruption in Mexico, there will be drugs coming across that border by the truckload.

There is no money to be made on the war on drugs, so it might be awhile before we fight that one again...

Possibly, yes. It does seem almost impossible but that should never mean we just don't do anything about it.
