was getting what you wanted. It comes under the guise of "be careful of what you wish for, it just might come trure", but it is a little different. If you had all you wanted what would there be to hope and live for? Isn't pursuing what you don't have is what makes life worth living, and not just in material terms. It could be a perfect relationship with a person or with God, or the ultimate adventure of a lilfetime. If you have everything, what is left to pursue? Could you be happy knowing there are no more worlds to conquer or Nieman Marcus stores to shop? Alexander the Great wept when he knew there were no more worlds to conquer.

*Ahem* Please don't limit women to shopping; I'd rather be conquering worlds or at least my own weaknesses.
I can never remember a time in my life that I wasn't reaching and longing for more. Maybe it's because my early life was troubled and painful, but I've always felt that things aren't as they should or could be, and so I've been a life long seeker.
Honestly, I can't even fathom having everything I wanted, but I don't think I'd like it. I'd grow complacent and ungrateful and that would be hellish. I like a challenge and I think the bumps in life are what we climb on. Every hideous thing I have suffered has taught me more about myself and about life and caused me to grow stronger or die.
Life is a great adventure and I like to see myself as an unlikely heroine, in a battle. Each time I make it through something I plant a flag. I believe in the Kingdom of God and that's the team I fight for. I believe that evil is real in this world and I hate it with passion.
If everything was peachy keen, picture-perfect...what would be the fun, the excitement in that? Give me a battle to fight. I've too much energy to burn.

I dunno. If you take something like wishing for world peace it's kinda hard to imagine not being happy just because you couldn't seek it anymore.
