Sinusitis treatment using Vegetable Juices
Carrot juice, taken separately or in combination with juices of beet and cucumber, or with spinach juice, has been found beneficial in the treatment of sinus trouble. In the case of combined juices, 100 ml each of beet and cucumber juices, or 200 ml of spinach juice, should be mixed with 300ml of carrot juice to make 500 ml or half a litre of the mixed juice
Sinusitis treatment using Vitamins A and C
A diet rich in vitamin A is the best insurance against cold and sinus trouble. Vitamin A is the 'membrane conditioner' and it helps build healthy mucous membranes in the nose and throat. Some of the valuable sources of this vitamin are whole milk, curds, egg yolk, pumpkin, carrots, leafy vegetables, tomatoes, mangoes, and papaya. When the sinus trouble has already developed, relief can be obtained by taking vitamin A in large therapeutic doses of 25,000 IU per day. Vitamin C has also proved beneficial in the treatment of sinusitis and the patient should take one gram of this vitamin per day in two therapeutic doses of 500 mg each
Diet for Sinusitis
Fresh fruit and vegetable juices with water
In the acute stage of the disease, when fever is present, the patient should abstain from all solid foods and drink only fresh fruit and vegetable juices diluted with warm water on a 50:50 basis
Well-balanced diet
After the fever subsides, he may adopt a low-calorie, raw fruit and vegetable diet with plenty of raw juices. Once the acute symptoms are over, the patient may gradually embark upon a well-balanced diet, with emphasis on seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruits. In persistent chronic conditions, repeated short juice fasts may be undertaken for a week or so at intervals of two months

Hot and cold water application
A cold application over the sinus will give great relief, while alternate hot and cold applications also prove beneficial. Take pans of hot and cold water, bathe the whole face with hot water as hot as you can bear-and then apply cold water for a short duration
Inhalation of steam, proper sleep and adequate rest
Nasal inhalation of steam for five minutes every hour will also give relief. Plenty of sleep, adequate rest, and fresh air are essential in the treatment of sinus trouble
Avoid perfumes and scented hair oil
Patient should avoid the use of perfumes and strongly scented hair oil

An old folk remedy for dissolving mucus is fenugreek seed tea (which is avail at your local health food store) When your sinuses need to be drained, prepare the tea by steeping a teaspoon of the fenugreek seed in a cup of just boiled water. After 7 minutes, strain and drink.
In the Orient, the leaves of the ginkgo Bilbao tree have been used as medicine for over 2,800 years. Now that the hearty ginkgo trees are popular in America. Crush a handful of leaves, boil them and carefully inhale the vapors. (if no fresh leaves you can use the capsules then follow label dosage).
(The above are less painful ways to help. There is always the age old remedy for inhaling the sale water by using 1 quarter teaspoon of salt in warm spring or distilled water one nostril at a time. yuck)

For sinus inflammation, sinna is a good choice taken both orally and in a spray. "Nasaleze" is gaining popularity, though it's pretty new to the market. Sea salt nasal washes arenasty and I couldn't do it, but they seem to work for people. Adding grapefruit seed extract to it can help. These are some of the safer ways to go without stimulants. I have suffered from sinus headaches for years, and recently tried a colloidal silver product called mesosilver. It is working very well for me. You can buy other similiar products at your local health store, but I ordered mine from purestcolloids.com. Hope it helps

Colds & Flu
The common cold is a contagious viral infection of the upper respiratory tract. It can be caused by a number of common viruses - most typically the rhinoviruses and coronaviruses. The common cold affects the nose, throat, sinuses, ears, eustachian tubes, trachea, larynx, and bronchial tubes. The incidence of colds is greatest in school-age children and declines with age.
If you develop a runny nose, with or without a sore throat, cough, a slightly raised temperature, tender glands in your neck, and aches and pains, you are likely to have one of the thousands of "common cold" viruses. There is no cure for most viruses. A doctor can not do more for you than you can do for yourself, although you may feel awful and wish that he could.
Treatment
The best thing to do is to stay at home, keep drinking, even if you don't feel like eating, get plenty of sleep, and take regular paracetamol, aspirin (only over the age of 16), to help the aches and pains and also to help reduce any fever. Some proprietary preparations contain one of these plus a decongestant. These may be just the right thing, and often make up into a drink, which also helps to stop you becoming dehydrated.
It is important, however, to remember that there is a maximum safe dose of the various drugs, and you should not take medications in combination unless you are sure that you are not exceeding the maximum dose of any of the constituents. For example if using the top recommended dose of a hot lemon cold treatment containing paracetamol, you should not take other paracetamol in addition. If in doubt, consult your pharmacist.
Most colds and upper respiratory virus infections only last for a few days. An antibiotic will not help if the cause is a virus, which it most often is, and may indeed make you feel worse. Antibiotics have a small risk of side effects, and sometimes even major ones, that could lead to other complications.
On most occasions little can be gained from going in to queue at the surgery or calling the doctor out to visit you, as nature will effect a cure, while you cope with the symptoms whilst endeavouring to take and apply the remedies mentioned above, or some of the more old-fashioned ones:
- Honey and lemon hot drink (made up with fresh lemon juice, boiled water and honey to taste).
- Menthol/mentholated steam inhalation. (If using menthol crystals, only use one crystal in hot, steaming water.) This may help clear the nasal passages, eustachian tubes and sinuses.
- Some people believe that vitamin C (ascorbic acid) helps to prevent and fight off colds. The scientific evidence is not good to support the effectiveness of extra vitamin C for this. Many people do however, swear by it.
- Throat lozenges, gargles and throat sprays may help soothe the sore throat.
What About Alternative Treatments?
The first paradigm of science is to clear away the cobwebs of educated thought and observe natural aspects. Cures must be based on what practically and statistically works, not the opinions of some 'educated experts'. Lest I be accused of critisizing doctors here, let me add to this thought. Most Doctors are not at fault in this! It is the 'health system' mentality. The years of training and information poured into all physicians heads is programming them to perform certain jobs for a profit. Medical doctors push pills or potions promoted by huge pharmaceutical companies as well as the financial benefits to themselves of surgery for the patient. Chiropractic doctors push adjustments and vitamins. The role of each type of doctor is to push some type of money making product or service.
Some centuries ago the role of physician was to teach health. The word physician meant teacher. Physicians taught people how to stay well. That notion of the role of a physician who is to teach health, has now been lost!
Where is there a place in our Western health care culture to TRULY promote and teach health, and hygienic living? This is the real cure for colds, flu and most other illnesses that currently afflict mankind? If any system of healing is to be effective, it must address the foundational cause of the disease. It is the author's opinion that current health care practices rarely consider this, primarily because the mass population is expecting a pill or potion to answer all their ills.
What Does Work for Colds and Flu?
There are historical treatments that have worked well in the past. Though, there are now scientific discoveries that offer new hope, as well as explaining why these old treatments worked in the first place. As brought out in the Modern Medical Counselor's (1) treatment section on the common cold, it is physiologic support of the immune system, that is the TRUE answer!
This book states that lifestyle prevents colds. It also states, that more than half a century ago - people who live hygienically rarely had colds. Those that did not live hygienically, frequently suffer from infection.
'Hygienically' - is meaning good food, exercise, stress reduction etc. and this certainly has not changed! We know now that the good food they were talking about, included fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, etc., that are rich in natural vitamins and nutrients that support a healthy immune system. They are also rich in roughage and bulk that helped to eliminate waste from our digestive system.
So first and foremost, before we even mention treatment, let me say that colds and flu are almost universally caused by how we live, not from viruses or something we 'catch'. We are all exposed to rhinoviruses many times a day. The reason we do not all have colds at all times is that some of us with strong and healthy immune systems destroy these viruses and the cells they invade within our bodies, BEFORE any symptoms develop.
THEREFORE .... Live an appropriate lifestyle, and be healthy.
Preventing Colds: The Basics
There are only two ways to avoid catching a cold: increasing your resistance to infection; or avoiding the infection!
When you are healthy, and your immune system is as strong as possible, you are less likely to get any illness, including a cold. So eating well and getting plenty of exercise, plus regular rest - may help you avoid catching colds.
Transfer Factors:
are made up of three separate fractions that balance the immune system for a more effective immune response. The three fractions are the INDUCER, ANTIGEN SPECIFIC and SUPPRESSOR fractions. The inducer fraction provides a basic training to get the immune system into shape.
