Absolutely. For years the southern states have taken much more in government money than they have contributed in taxes. Economically speaking, the southern states are a drag on the Federal budget.

The South is a convenient location for military bases, since few people want to live there so there's lots of room for training; but that's the extent of its usefulness to the nation.

Lincoln should have let the Confederacy flounder in it's own ineptitude (and not allowed them back when they begged to return).

Some guy was making a movie about this, i was trying to find a link but i can not find anything on it anymore, he must have stopped. Some of the footage was funny in a haha form. They had cops with nets rounding up runaway slaves, pretty funny, if your not sensitve to that stuff
