I know people who consider themselves to be in the middle politically according to their standards but, in are actually liberal in what they believe. I'm curious to know what "foreign" or non-US citizens think is conservative politically or just plain conservative i.e. every day life styles, etc., etc. Thanks.

In politics, this is simply a matter of different terminology.

AMERICAN "liberal" is the same as Labour/Socialist/etc. Partyeverywhere else in the world (though a moderate socialist). In business, this shows a tendency toward protectionism, wage and labor laws, social support programs, etc. Socialist is a dirty word in the US, so they cling to liberal even though it makes no sense.

AMERICAN "conservative" is the same as Liberal Party everywhere else in the world. Liberal means free and without restrictions and refers to their attitude toward capitalism and business.

FOREIGN "conservative" doesn't have a parallel in US culture, but they tend to be the pro-monarchy groups.

American conservative and liberal parties actually aren't terribly far away from each other on the political map, versus different parties in many parts of the world.
