I know exactly what you mean. I, too use several product to "manage" my curly thick hair. I am frequently asked by women, what kind of curl do you have? When I tell them I don't have a curl, some have asked me if I was "sure". Black women just have a thing about hair, which in and of its self is not a bad thing, but when it is an obsession, it becomes too much. It is colonial thinking. My husband says that I don't understand, because I have that supposedly "good" hair. I think this hair thing has no real answer that will satisfy to many women.

Oh, six hair products? You sound high maintenence! I have "good hair" also, but not just because it's curly. It;s long, shiny, not too thick, and the curls are not just curls, they're perfect ringlets. More white people notice my hair than black, because I think most assume I wear a weave or go to the salon to get my hair to do what it does naturally. So it isn't just about having curly hair.
Ps. I don't mean to brag. I'm just trying to prove a point here.

Because when people see a black women or a man with hair that looks managable they assume that this person has good hair texture however, If someone is walking around with an afro that's bad hair.
Because the hair is like brillo, or nappy so automatically that's bad hair...
Alot of different ethnic groups have either good or bad hair.. Some white people have frizzy hair, thin hair, just bad hair in general. Same for hispanics, thin, frizzy etc. To me it is all about how you take care of your hair to have great hair...

Nappy hair is impossible to deal with, it takes too much time and energy and still refuses to lay down. Because it looks like big puff on your head instead of hair. Because no one has an afro anymore. Because nappy hair is shorter than straight hair and the mark of a woman's beauty and feminiity is long hair. Because every other black women straightens their hair or wears weaves. Because it is prettier and not as dry. Too many blacks don't know how to mange their hair. Well sometimes the hair is just unmanagable. Do you know how much money black women spend a year on their hair?

i'm a company beliver that "stable hair is healthful hair", no be counted the feel. some have confidence that the greater straightforward to sweep the greater advantageous the hair and that only comes from lack of understanding and no self love. notwithstanding that's extremely unhappy because of the fact now I hear that remark coming from greater suitable than only black human beings and that's not stunning and that i only heard this preteen black lady chatting along with her buddies on the bus approximately how she needs her toddler to return out with easy epidermis and stable hair. and that i be attentive to it is propose, yet as quickly as I hear human beings say that, i'm hoping the toddler comes out with the toughest head of hair. basic combing comes from hair care and staying power.

It is just a matter of culture. It is the same idea that many black people use greese in the hair and think it is good hair. Or they dont wash it, and think it is good. It is the same reason that white people think washing your hair every day, or twice a day (!) is good. A matter of culture.
