Are you talking about a Jacuzzi (which takes water from your water heater) or a HOT TUB, which you fill and it has it's own heating system? I have a hot tub which has an electric heating element within the system. It's designed to run on 110 volts or 220 volts. If plugged into 110, the heater will shut down if the jets are turned on. With the 220 volt system, it draws quite a bit since it has a 50 amp breaker. If you're looking at a bath tub in your house with jets, you're going to draw water from your water heater. Just use what you have. If it's electric and doesn't have a quick recovery, you might want to oversize the tank.

I would go for convenience rather than economy. cause the most economical is no jacuzzi. 220 is the voltage you want. you want high volume pumps.

Gas or electric are about the sam inprice. If I were you I would supliment the heating with solar heat. This would reduce the cost of the electric or gas depending on which you choose

gas will heat it quicker but cost almost 2 times as much 220 voltage will be cheeper but take longer to heat, and generally cost more to install
