It doesn't limit the sun. The Tropic of Cancer is the limit to how far north the sun appears directly overhead on the Summer solstice. The Tropic of Capricorn is the limit to how far south the sun appears directly overhead on the Winter solstice.

The tropics do not limit the Sun from hitting the Earth. They are merely represent the most northern and southern limits of where the sun can appear in the sky. You will never see the Sun due north for example.

well at least your honest about why your asking...

The question is really worded wrong, those two lines of latitude don't limit the sun from hitting the Earth. What they represent are the maximum latitudes north and south of the equator that the sun will be directly overhead at some point. That happens on the two solstices.

The degrees north and south are the same degrees that the Earth is tilted on it's axis, or 23.439 degrees. So on the northern summer solstice, the Earths northern hemisphere is at it's maximum face to the sun, so the sun is directly overhead at 23.439 degrees north. It will never be directly overhead north of that.

they don't. The Tropic of maximum cancers, and The Tropic of Capricorn are selection strains on earth that are immediately consistent with the solar, on the Vernal (spring in the northern hemisphere) and Autumnal ( fall in the northern hemisphere) Equinox. it is how the seasons are measured.
