There are lots of different procedures (with appropriately
different costs). The most common is probably dipiliation
(hair removal), usually with laser. It will probably cost you
$7000 by the time all is said and done.

"qualify"? You mean for insurance?

Well, if you were diagnosed as having sexual identification
disphoria (which is now recognized by the DSM), you might
get some insurance companies to pay for it. Without that
diagnosis, you won't get anywhere.

However, you can certainly pay for it yourself and I'm guessing
that most doctors doing that sort of thing will do it. They might
ask you why ... and you can say that you simply don't want to
put up with shaving any more!

Or you can tell them the truth. I really don't think they will
care as long as you are not trying to injure yourself.

There are other surguries that you probably cannot purchase
unless you are undergoing a sexual reassignment with a
reputable doctor such as playing around with cheek bones
and facial fat. The risks for these operations will make most
plastic surgeons not want to take them on without the AMA
considering it part of the "standard of care" for someone with
your condition - which means you need to be diagnosed with
the condition.

I would recommend that you be having the full treatment
of hormones (and hormone surpressors) before someone
wields the knife. Facial hair, though it won't disappear, will
usually become thinner and lighter without testosterone.

Cost Of Facial Feminization Surgery

2016-10-17 00:40:07 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

The facial surgery is only a small item. To pass as a woman, you would also need an "Adam's apple" shave...yes they slit your throat and shave the bone down...the scar is in the fold of the neck so it heals and is unnoticeable. If your voice is too low, you should have a "Vocal cord stretch." That will give you a higher pitch voice. To prevent your skin texture from becoming too masculine you will have to take estrogen/progesterone to keep your skin soft and feminine, reduce your facial hair problem, and it will also stop any male pattern baldness that might develop. Later, you can have breast implants so you don't have to wear "falsies." If you really want to go even more feminine, you can even have hip and butt implants so you have a woman's curves. Then, the only way anyone will know is to check out the plumbing.

Well, let's start with "de-whiskering": Get laser hair removal IF you have darker hair..otherwise, electroylisis is the only way, painful, drawn out, and expensive...allow about 10K for electrolysis, or 2000- 4000 for laser.
Adams Apple? Shaving down that sucker can go as high as 4k..but you can get it done abroad a lot cheaper..try Mexico..good surgeons at 1/4 the cost.
Chin bone change. ? nasty surgery, can have lots of complications...do that one locally... allow about 8K.
Implants to chest? Allow about 3K for that one.
good luck
