I read the stories about the scams . I have the same check here in my hands. I heard that it is a real check and all you have to do is to open up a new account using the check only , wait until the bank clears it, then deposit all of the money out of the account and close the account and nothing would happen. Someone else told me this. That person knew someone who did this.

That check is a fraud sent by someone in Canada, probably. Is there a phone number listed beginning with 902.

Fraud is serious. If you deposit that check with a new account, a.) The bank is going to make sure the check is valid first, then will get you as trying to pass a fraudulent check, and b.) you could go to jail, because that type of fraud is felony.

I implore you not to cash the check.

Or, if you really want to make certain it is for real or not, find the bank's number online. Do not use the bank number on the check. It is fake. Call the bank and verify funds and account. The bank will gladly do this for you.

I recently was the recipient of the Australian National Lottery. Same thing. Same scam.
